Storage Solutions for a Laundry/Craft Room

Dear Studio Design Team,img_laudryrm050410

I really love the laundry room designed by Suzanne Kasler, pictured in your March 2010 catalog on pages 12-13. I was wondering if I could do something similar with my laundry/craft room, even though it is probably somewhat smaller than the one Suzanne designed. I would like to have a worktable in the center if I could, but I didn’t know if there would be enough space and if I would have room for any other shelves or cabinets. I would appreciate your suggestions on how to best use the space that I have. I am sending some pictures of the room as well as a floor plan.
Thank You,
Mary Ann

Dear Mary Ann:
What a wonderful Laundry Room you have. You certainly have the space to create a storage area as well as a craft space. The idea behind Suzanne Kasler’s Laundry Room in our March Catalog was based on that principle. Your craft/work table should be about 4’ x 6’ in size with a durable, washable top. It would be a good idea to have locking casters, so that you will be able to push it against the wall when not in use, and pull it easily out to the center of the room when needed. We would suggest looking at an Art Supply Store for the type of table you need. Placing our Café Shelving above the table will give you additional storage as well as easy access to supplies.

You have adequate wall space to create a storage area from our Abbeville Collection. It has great versatility and storage capabilities. We are suggesting that you start out with 2 corner units stacked one on top of the other. On either side of the corner units, stack 1 compartment unit and a two basket unit. The beauty of the Abbeville Collection is that you can add units as your storage needs increase.

We do hope that our suggestions help you create a space that is full of inspiration as well as providing you the organization and storage that you need. Please send us some pictures when you complete the project. We would love to post them on Style Studio to inspire other Ballard fans to get creative. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.
Sincerely,
The Style Studio Team
