Pastels are typically a color palette you’d see in the Spring, but we loved incorporating them into our Winter season because they coordinate so beautifully with grays. Our new Minsk and Cleo Glacier fabrics really inspired us to work violet into the space, and once we got going, we couldn’t believe how many of our favorite pieces echoed that icy blue and violet palette.
Once the decorations from the holidays are down and you’ve welcomed a new year, it’s the perfect time to turn a fresh eye to your home. What do you love about it? What would you like to change? Where do you turn for inspiration? To help you answer those questions and more, we chatted with our Senior Vice President, Karen Mooney, about becoming your own decorator, the very best trends we love and her absolute favorites from our Winter Catalog.
Here at Ballard Designs, we base our decorating philosophy on one principal — having a space that reflects your personality. We spend the majority of our lives at home, so why shouldn’t it feel comfortable, inspiring, functional, and reflective of who you are? Often people neglect the rooms guests never see (like bedrooms), and we get it. But what a shame! We want to inspire you to turn your own master bedroom into a dreamy space that’s meant to make you happy and refreshed to take on the world.
Because we shoot in real homes, we are not always at liberty to paint the walls. In those cases, we have chosen paint colors that best match the wall color in the photo. Please be aware that color may vary due to various light conditions, finish and other factors. Therefore, it’s always a great idea to test a paint sample on your wall first.
Pillow covers are the hardest working tool in your decorating arsenal. A well placed pillow can ‘pouf!’ give your room a whole new color palette. Not to mention they’re functional, relatively inexpensive compared to most other pieces in your living room or bedroom, and they’re easy to find. But did you know you can order a pillow cover in any of our fabrics? Because of that, it’s simple to get that perfectly coordinated collection of pillows in your home — the ones you usually only see in designer spaces. We’ve pulled together some of our favorite fabrics to help you get a designer look using our custom pillows in some of our beloved fabrics.
