Winter Color Palette: Mineral & Drift

Decorating a room with icy blues and neutrals

This Winter’s collection was very obviously inspired by icy blue likes mineral and aqua. Tempered by lots of taupes and grays, a few jolts of blue can really wake up a room and give it a fresh feel. Our Kaley Aqua fabric is one of our favorite new fabrics for our first 2015 collection. We love the way this pattern feels almost tribal but in vivid shades of blue. To pair with the Kaley Aqua, we used our Piper Mineral fabric. This crisp linen-cotton blend has a watercolor effect and a fun, updated dot print!

Decorating with warm and cool neutrals

It’s a common misconception that you can’t use several different neutrals in a room. If you use lots of tans, then you can’t inject gray. If you’re using black, you can mix in brown. We’re here to dispel this rumor!

Reproducing vintage fabrics for Ballard Designs

You’ve probably heard a few of our stories over the years of finding inspiration in a beautiful antique we’ve uncovered on our travels abroad. It usually involves a piece of furniture, a chandelier or even a botanical study. But this story is a little different. This fall, we’re introducing two new Fabric by the Yard selections based on vintage scraps of fabric we’ve found. Yes, fabric.
