Dear How to Decorate,
We have a basement room that is finished. The trouble we’re mostly having is how to arrange the room with lots of door ways and limited full walls. We have lived in this house for two years and have still not decided what type of furniture to put in here!
We’d like this to be a family room with a seating area for at least 4-5 people and a TV. I would also like shelving to store books and to add a shuffleboard table as well. My husband would like to leave room for a bar but that’s not a must have at this point.
Although your finished basement provides spacing challenges, we have had great fun accommodating all of your wishes!
Let’s begin by creating a cozy seating area by adding our Graham 3-Piece Sectional. An additional armless loveseat will accommodate extra seating. Occasional pillows in greens and blues will add color, texture and interest.
Next, our new Martine Media Bookcase has a narrow depth profile, while providing space for up to a 72” flat screen TV, and storage. Use it for ramping up your movie watching. Placing our color coordinating Penelope Consoles on either side of your fireplace will create a second feature wall. Add illumination and increase the visual scale of the space by hanging Greenwich Arched Antique Glass Mirrors above the consoles. Finish this amazing wall with artwork that will repeat the beautiful colors. Our art piece A Sunlit Stroll lends warm grays, greens, and brown accents to coordinate with the colors in the media area. Four Leather Ottomans in Moss placed together can create a multi-purpose coffee table. Not only will they hold a tray for drinks, they can also provide extra seating, and foot rests. An additional splash of colorful art on your ascending stair wall, such as In Plain Sight with vibrant blues, greens, and rusts, will provide visual interest.
Let’s move onto your game and bar area. Place your Shuffleboard Table behind the sofa area to allow ample space to navigate around the table to enter your additional room and closets. Finally, place our Sienna 3-piece Modular Bar collection against the back of the sofa to create that bar area you husband wants.
The Giardino 3 Piece Café Dining Set with side chairs will create yet another entertaining area in your bar area. Finally adding some Vintage Vine Label Prints will set a themed tone for great entertaining!
