Fall Color Palette: Greige & Sky

Living room color palette with gray, taupe, and blue

As soon as we saw this room from our Holiday 2014 catalog, we knew we had to use it in our color palette series. What a gorgeous space, especially the blue ceiling color!

The ceiling is really the Wow! in the space, painted Aspen Skies #1656 from Benjamin Moore, and we love the way this color echoes a beautiful blue sky and draws your attention to a scene-stealing chandelier, our Marais 6 Light Orb Chandelier. The furniture pieces in this room are upholstered in patterns in shades of warm grays and taupes, like our Document Brown Fabric, our Belize Taupe, and our Suzanne Kasler Signature 13 oz Linen in Flax and Sky & Blanc Stripe.

We accented the room with elegant accessories, like velvet throw pillows, mercury glass lamps, and an oversize giclée art print. Together, we love the way this space feels sophisticated but also whimsical!

Wall Colors: I am moving into a house. The current owners have all walls painted dark — chocolate, red, yellow, brown. All trim including doors are painted bright white. I will leave the white but would like to paint the entire interior one color throughout. The kitchen cabinets are a cream color. The bar cabinets are black. These will stay the same. The granite in the kitchen has taupe, golden yellow, black and is not too dark. This will stay. I will be recovering all my furniture fabrics and would like to choose: flax, linen, gray, taupe, navy. I would like the house to look fresh and airy. What color would you recommend the walls? I will be keeping the trim and doors white. Some floors are light hardwood and some cream carpet. Brenda

      Hi Bev,
The rug featured in this original room is our Valentino Rug, and it’s probably one of the most beautiful rugs we offer! It goes perfectly with this color palette and has the most beautiful sheen to the rug fibers. Plus, it’s super soft underfoot.

Two other great options would be our Montreaux Greek Key Rug or our Savilla Rug. Both have pretty neutral shades paired with sky blue!
      Hope that helps,
      The How to Decorate Team
