Dear Style Studio,
We are a military family and we just moved into a new house that is on a military base.
We are only living here for 18 months so we can’t paint. This entire house is painted US Navy off-white with cheap tile floors and I am working my hardest to make it cozy.
Our family room has a giant blank wall where the TV sits. My guess is that it is designed for a huge entertainment center, which we don’t have and don’t want. Our TV fits the size of the room and is on a low TV stand. There are six windows in the room, two of which flank the television.
My problem is that I can’t figure out what to do with all the other white space surrounding the TV. I don’t have a series of framed pictures to put up — everything is already hanging elsewhere in the house.
I don’t want to purchase a large entertainment unit and there isn’t enough room for two tall skinny bookcases. We would rather hang something to fill the space.
It certainly can be a challenge when you aren’t able to change the paint color of a room but you have done a great job decorating around this challenge.
We recommend that you hang a grouping of artwork and mirrors or artwork and plaques. Using several smaller pieces to create a grouping will give flexibility for when you move again.
Our Vibrant Botanical Giclee Prints would look fabulous on the wall, especially if you paired them with the Angel Wings for a fantastic conversational piece.
Another piece of artwork that would look fresh and updated on your wall is the Jar of Flowers Prints. These welcoming prints are an exclusive for Ballard by artist Kate Endle. Top the group with Suzanne Kasler Sunburst Mirrors for a finished look.
Good luck and Happy Decorating!
