Dear How to Decorate,
Hi there. I have been struggling with how to decorate my new home.
There’s a lot in your catalog I’m drawn to but just not sure how to dive in.
The area that’s open is my front foyer/dining room/sitting area. I like a simple modern design and am worried its all too neutral for me!
I am thinking of a 36-inch round table in the foyer with a tropical plant (we are in Florida and I’m building on the woven chairs). The photo attached is my inspiration.
I would like to use aqua or yellow or even orange as my pop color maybe in a rug? Marina rug? Chevron stripe? I like a modern feel.
I am looking for rugs, art, tables maybe even lighting! I want to lean towards a light wood or grey I think… But just am not sure how it will all pull together.
I don’t want a traditional table and am drawn to the fabric upholstered chairs. Maybe with a farmhouse picnic table. Or, your trestle table?
Would love some ideas and hope to get this filled soon!
Thanks so much for your time.
New empty rooms can be overwhelming but what a great canvas to create inspiration. Try building your style from your chairs.
With your photo as a guide, our team has pulled together a beautiful plan for your space. Let’s start with our Chevron Stripe Rug in Mineral and center our Sidney Table in Hickory Brown on top of the rug. Why not nestle the Rattan Garden Seat and the Square Basket Weave Garden Seat under the table for your impromptu seating.
For your palm branches, arrange them in our Leona Vase from the Casa Florentina Collection for a dramatic look. What a fabulous entrance into your home!
When guests arrived, usher them into your dining area filled with your favorite collection of colors and finishes.
We recommend our Chianni Table in Belgian Oak for your dining table with a Braided Link Jute Rug tucked underneath. At each end of the table, place a Gramercy Chair covered in Tamerlane Mineral- then flank each side of the table with our Constance Side chairs in Chestnut Finish.
Let’s place our Sorento Console in Distressed Blue Grey, with our Conchae Botanica reproductions hung above, for a sophisicated yet casual look.
The perfect accent above your fireplace, Suzanne Kasler’s D’or Sunburst Mirror, is dramatic and impressive.
On either side of your fireplace, use your existing chairs adding a cushion wrap in Linen Mandarin.
Finally, tuck our Alexander Side Table in between the chairs.
Did we mention lighting? Our Eldridge Rectangular Chandelier would work well repeating the trim on your fireplace.
We certainly look forward to seeing the results of your progress!!
