Elegant Dining

Hello,

Could you forward this to the Style Studio decorating dilemmas?  I tried to find the email address on your website but could not.  I am trying to decorate my dining room which has a huge dark stain table (120 in x48 in) , dark hardwood floors, an olive green paint color, and 12 ft ceilings.

The room is 20 ft X 15 ft.  I would like to order 8 camille tufted chairs and 2 Dunstan wingback chairs for the table but I am clueless on what fabric to choose.  I also need to order a rug, drapery, and anything else that would make the room pop.  Please help!  I have attached some pictures.

Dear Kylie:

Thank you for your recent Decorating Dilemma.  What a fabulous room!  This is what is meant when someone makes a comment that the room has good bones.  Our first thought is to accent the entire room in off white.  It will give it sophistication and elegance that we think it deserves.  Let’s start with the window, two Ballard Essential Panels in Off White Twill hung close to the ceiling, just framing the window.  On either side of the window, the Aurelle Corner Cabinets placed in the corners for a “built-in look”.  On the right wall facing the window, the Sauvignon Mirror centered in between the chandeliers.  The immediate wall to the right of the entrance, we think the Louis Sideboard in Distressed Off White will be perfect for those wonderful buffet dinners.  Above the sideboard, the Set of 5 Suzanne Kasler Atelier Antlers arranged on the wall.

The Dunstan Wing Chairs as well as the Camille Tufted Chairs should be covered in Off White Quilted for texture or you can also choose the Off White Twill.  We adore the rustic quality of the table and feel that the centerpiece should reflect that, so we chose Suzanne Kasler’s French Bisque Lamp Slip filled with tall branches looming out.  The wood floor is beautiful as is, so we think it should stand alone.  We have relied on texture rather that color to achieve this upscale look.  We think it is elegant, current and we love the European flair!

We also recognize that a monochromatic color scheme is not for everybody, so we are giving you a more traditional design alternative.  The drapery panels can remain the same as the first scenario – Off White Twill panels from floor to ceiling.  On either side of the window arrange three Jacque Brackets in cream one above the other with a fresh white ceramic plate on each.  This will be a dramatic focal point drawing your eye to the end of the room.  On the right wall, we think the Birch Grove Giclee would look great centered on the wall above the Louis Sideboard again in Distressed Off White.  Two Jolie Buffet Lamps in Biscay Gold would flank either end of the sideboard.  On the short wall to the right of the entrance, we love the texture of the Estrella Plaques I, III, and V centered and hung vertically.  As far as we can see, the print on the left wall is still fine.

The fabrics that we chose for the Dunstan Wing Chairs is Tremont Sage, and the Camille Chairs would coordinate in Khaki Twill.  We did choose a rug for this scenario, the Campione Rug.  Our Angle Vine Topiaries 2 small and 1 large arranged in the middle of the table should complete the look.

We do hope that we have helped to solve your Decorating Dilemma and have given you two very different looks for your Dining Room.  Please let us know what you think – we love the feedback!  And pictures of the completed project would be appreciated, as we know our fans would love to see the completed room posted on Style Studio.  Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

The Style Studio Team

I love the Estrella plagues but they don’t come up on your website. Are they still available? I want to put 3 above my headboard. Thank you, Evelyn

Dear Evelyn: The Estrella Plaques are no longer available, however we do have the Rosette Plaques and the Relilif Plaques that are available. We do hope that maybe one of the alternative plaques will work for you.
